چکیده

This article assesses two Harmonic Balance Method-based numerical Lagrangian strategies for the characterization of periodic response a mechanical system subject to unilateral contact constraints. The model used evaluation is an academic rod facing obstacle that firstly considered as equivalent stiffness (flexible) and then rigid obstacle. Nonlinear frequency curves are obtained through arc-length continuation procedure confronted corresponding time integration simulations. An in-depth comparative analysis conducted on signals both domain strategies: (1) linear complementarity problem (LCP-HBM) (2) dynamic (DLFT-HBM). conditions thoroughly investigated in compared with reference Particular attention paid relation between methods it shown DLFT-HBM asymptotically LCP-HBM. study also shows oversampling inside alternating frequency–time procedures generates non-physical high harmonics. Finally, convergence order assess influence different parameters respect laws.

The harmonic balance method with arc-length continuation in rotor/stator contact problems

There are a variety of abnormal running conditions in rotating machinery which lead to rotor/stator interaction dynamics which, in turn, can cause a rich mixture of effects associated with rub-related phenomena. These effects manifest themselves in the occurrence of multiple solutions for steady-state vibration response scenarios, including amplitude jumps during rotor acceleration, and vibrati...

The Harmonic Balance Method

The harmonic balance method is used in most current commercial RF simulation tools. This is due to the fact that it has certain advantages over other common methods used in SPICE, namely (modified) nodal analysis (MNA), which make it better suited to simulate stiff problems and circuits containing transmission lines, nonlinearities and dispersive effects. In this project, the harmonic balance a...

On the integral equation formulations of some 2D contact problems

We consider integral equation formulations of contact problems of Kirchhoff (thin) plates, discontinuously supported along arcs or segments. In the classical PDE formulation (biharmonic equation), the plate deflection is assumed as the primary unknown. The boundary conditions along the supported edge are imposed in terms of the plate deflection and its derivatives, and the reaction forces and c...

On Adaptive Eulerian-Lagrangian Method for Linear Convection-Diffusion Problems

In this paper, we consider the adaptive Eulerian–Lagrangian method (ELM) for linear convection-diffusion problems. Unlike the classical a posteriori error estimations, we estimate the temporal error along the characteristics and derive a new a posteriori error bound for ELM semi-discretization. With the help of this proposed error bound, we are able to show the optimal convergence rate of ELM f...
